Dear Friend,
She is your sister, your mom, your child’s caregiver, your
neighbor down the street or even your best football buddy. They
are not just a statistic, but someone you know, not just a 1 in 8
victim. It doesn’t always happen to someone else, to a stranger,
a faceless person. It can even happen to you.
Each year 44,000 women and 400 men will die of this disease. By
the end of the decade, approximately 1.8 million women and 12,000
men will be diagnosed. It is the leading cause of death for women
ages 33-54. The cause, the diagnosis? Breast Cancer.
The Linda L. Vladyka Breast Wellness Foundation was created to
sponsor events to raise funds for education, research and
promotion of breast wellness and breast cancer issues. Located in
Salem, Oregon, the Foundation’s goal is to continue to work for
a cure for breast cancer, as well as inform and educate those
touched by this disease. Both local and national organizations are
the beneficiaries of the funds raised each year.
Play for the Cure® is an annual non-professional softball
tournament is held at Wallace
Sports Complex in Salem, Oregon. With play
dates this year of August 15-17, recreational teams will be
pledging their support for the cause of breast cancer. A breast
cancer survivor will officially open each game, and games will be
played according to USSSA regulations. Each team is guaranteed to
play five games during the tournament, with trophies awarded to the winners. In
addition, organizations in medical, cancer information, and other
related areas will be on hand to share information and services.
We need your help to host the event this year. Sponsorships can
range from game sponsorship and player welcome packs to field
advertisement and whole tournament sponsorship. All levels of
sponsorship are critical to the event. Enclosed you will find a
listing of sponsorship levels. All donors will be listed in
printed materials for the tournament, as well as receiving
official recognition at the tournament. We know that you will want
to continue to fight to find a cure for breast cancer, and put
your name forward as the one who shows strong support.
Let’s work together to strike out breast cancer. Join our team
and Play for the Cure®.
Sincerely,
Kris Knox, President
Linda L. Vladyka Breast Wellness Foundation
